Yes, I'm going to add to the most likely floods of posts about this on everyone's friends pages. However, I have the feeling that I have something a bit different to say about it all.
First of all, I would like to thank LiveJournal. Yes, thank them. And no, I'm not being sarcastic.
Boohoo, they deleted your fanfic porn community. Deleted and gave reason. And while deleting they also managed to delete the journals and communities of real pedophiles.
Somehow, I think losing a bit of fanfiction to delete the journal of someone like that is a fair price to pay. Yes, there were fewer 'real (pedo/incest/etc)' journals deleted in comparison to 'fandom' journals.
But, really, people, what did you expect when you listed things like 'incest' in your interests? "It's just fiction!" Yes, I know. But you still realize that you are listing something illegal as an interest to you?
I have my own very personal reasons for being against things like shota and loli. So, perhaps I am biased.
But I also think everyone in fandom OVERREACTED. Yes, LiveJournal deleted around 500 journals. 500 out of 13,000,000. That's .003846% of their journals. Do you realise how small a number that really is? And that they did it for a reason? Not only that, but they are now reinstating all the journals that were wrongfully deleted?
So, in short, grow up fandom. I'm sorry someone took your porn. But I am glad to see some of the real bad guys stopped.
As for the support journals and journals of real survivors? Yes, it is unfortunate that they got caught up in all this. However, frankly, I am surprised that they would be angered about LiveJournal trying to purge the journals and communities of the sort of people who hurt them previously. Maybe I'm crazy.
If this is some detrimental flaw to my character, feel free to let me know. So, yes, here's my use of my first amendment rights.
